Description

Planning for ROI

Planning for ROI is a 3-session course series designed to provide simulation educators and administrators with the foundational knowledge and tools to demonstrate the value of their simulation projects to their sponsoring institutions.  Jump Simulation has been focused on tying simulation-based activities to patient-level outcomes since its founding in 2013, and designed this course series using digital learning platforms and live facilitation to create active engagement that accelerates learning!

Session 1 – May 19

This online course includes a brief self-directed online introduction, followed by a live facilitated workshop.  This session will introduce simulation educators and administrators to:
  • A value demonstration framework leading to Return on Investment (ROI)
  • The 5 levels of gap analysis and outcome measures within the framework
  • Considerations for mapping goals and interventions to needs
  • Calculating return on investment for simulation-based projects
Learners will have the opportunity to interact with each other and apply the framework principles by playing the “serious” ROI Game.

Session 2 – May 26

This online course includes a brief self-directed online introduction, followed by a live facilitated workshop.  This session will introduce simulation educators and administrators to:
  • Targeted needs assessment using the Behavior Engineering Model including the 6 factors of performance
  • Categorizing performance needs into the 6 factors using a patient safety issue
  • A simulation debriefing framework for performance analysis

Session 3 – June 9

Must complete Sessions 1 and 2 to participate in Session 3.

This online mentoring session will provide participants expert support to apply principles from Sessions 1 and 2 to a project of their choosing.  Participants will
  • Use provided materials to apply the methodology to a real project from their home program.
  • With real-time expert support, work in pairs to review and provide peer feedback on project’s strengths and opportunities
  • Leverage peer and facilitator feedback for action planning to take project to completion
