As a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner currently working as a Clinical Education Nurse Scholar and Clinical Medical Associate Faculty providing research and evidence-based education in support of strategic initiatives of the hospital and the medical school. His roles allow him to function in a broad range of educational modalities to enhance adult learning and retention and a catalyst for change in a progressive and professional manner to enhance quality patient care and enhance patient safety with Interprofessional education and collaboration, like having nursing students teach medical students certain skills during the 3rd year medical student orientation.

TK has enhanced patient care, safety, and their experience from his 10-years of experience as an RN in critical care, site director over the ACLS program, and a member in a wide variety of professional associations and hospital committees, projects, and initiatives; like pioneering the implementation of Interprofessional code blue simulations using TeamSTEPPS® in the adult patient care units, which has increased patient survival post-cardiac arrest by 20 percent. TK has published in many professional journals and publications and received nominations and awards for his achievements.

TK has his Masters in Nursing in Advanced Practice and is certified as a Progressive Care Certified Nurse, Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator, and a master trainer in TeamSTEPPS®.

Professional Background and Service:
Toufic S. Khairallah (T.K.) is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a background as an RN in Cardio-Thoracic Progressive and Critical Care Services since 2006. He became a Clinical Nurse Educator in 2008. Currently he is a Clinical Education Nurse Scholar specializing in Healthcare Simulation at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center since 2010. Toufic is also a Clinical Medical Education associate at the University Of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria since 2012. He works in collaboration with OSF Healthcare and UICOMP to facilitate education Interprofessionally amongst nurses, physicians, advanced practice providers, medical students and, nursing students focusing on appropriate educational modalities and Interprofessional Education Simulation. He has published in numerous professional journals and has presented nationally and internationally. Toufic volunteers his paid vacation time to certify the physicians and nurses of Vietnam in BLS and ACLS with the end goal of enhancing resuscitation outcomes and starting up an AHA Training Center. Toufic loves spending his time with his family and niece and nephew when not working or traveling.

Toufic is a cheerleader for our nursing profession and empowering other RNs and NPs to continually professional grow themselves professionally by becoming nationally certified. He leads by example by holding multiple national certifications and continues to seek more certifications in the future. He currently is certified in the following:

• Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) governed by SSH; being the only person certified in Healthcare Simulation within the OSF Healthcare System and Central Illinois

Educational Background:
Toufic (T.K.) received his Bachelors of Science in Nursing and his Masters of Science in Nursing in Advanced Nursing Practice from Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing in Peoria, Illinois. He received training and is certified on simulation, debriefing, facilitation, and adult learning theories from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois and from the Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) at Harvard Medical University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is also is TeamSTEPPS® Master Trainer and is certified in both Acute Care and Primary Care training by the Agency of Research and Quality.
